Chicken Recipe - Honey Baked Chicken

Chicken is such a versatile meat and baking it is one of the simplest ways to cook it. If you want to try a delicious baked chicken recipe, what about using honey to add sweetness to the bird? There are lots of different ingredients you can use if you want to bake your chicken but honey is certainly one of the most flavorful.

Actually, this ingredient is used in a lot of similar recipes to add a distinctive flavor as well as the sweetness you would expect. If you have never made a savory recipe with it, try this one. Most people have tried savory foods with honey in them. If you enjoy honey mustard dressing for example, you will love the flavor of the following recipe. It is also great in sweet recipes like honey cake or honey cookies.

The Difference Between Baking and Roasting

The two cooking methods are similar but baking usually refers to chicken pieces whereas roasting refers to a whole bird. The meat can be boneless or bone-in, skinless or with the skin on. Baked chicken is usually coated before you bake it and you can use various sauces, herbs, spices, or breadcrumbs.

Some baked meat or poultry recipes also call for potatoes or vegetables. You can use a whole chicken cut into pieces or just breast or just thigh. Thigh is usually more moist and succulent than breast, since it contains more fat, but it depends what you like. Some people only like the breast meat and if you cook it properly it will not dry out.

Tips for Beautiful Baked Bird

The pan you use for cooking needs to be big enough for the meat pieces not to touch one another. This lets it cook and brown evenly. Some recipes will call for the meat to be turned once during the cooking process and others will not.

The poultry must cook until the juices run clear when you pierce it with a knife. The cooking time depends on the recipe, the amount of meat and the other ingredients used. If some pieces are cooked before others, you can remove those and keep them warm by putting aluminum foil over them until everything is done.

The Recipe, Step by Step

The following recipe makes enough for six people and you can serve it with mashed potatoes or rice. There are only six ingredients in this recipe but do not be deceived by that. The taste is perfectly balanced and really mouthwatering. Use mild or hot curry powder depending on your personal preference.

What you will need:

3 lbs chicken pieces
1/3 cup honey
1/3 cup melted butter
1 teaspoon curry powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons prepared mustard

How to make it:

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Arrange the chicken skin side up in a shallow baking pan. Stir together the honey, butter, curry powder, salt and mustard and pour this over the meat. Bake for about seventy five minutes, basting the bird every fifteen minutes until it is golden brown and tender.

Cooking with chicken is really easy and you might like to try a simple chicken soup recipe if you are new to using poultry in cooking. Recipes like chicken noodle soup are perfect for lunch or dinner. They are soothing, comforting and taste really good.

I've Never Heard Of No Bake Cookies Made Without Peanut Butter - Do You Have A Recipe?

No bake cookies recipes that do not include peanut butter are very popular. Some people don't like peanut butter while others are allergic to it. While it would be natural to think that all no bake cookie recipes include both oats and peanut butter, there are hundreds of recipes that don't include either ingredient.

The first place to look for more variations of no bake recipes is old cook books. And if you don't have access to old cook books, don't worry as they are available to download free from places like the Gutenberg Library Project. To get you started, why not try this recipe:

No Bake Chocolate Chip And Cereal

Ingredients

12 oz chocolate chips or baking chocolate
2 tablespoons unsalted butter
2 cups cereal
Raisins optional

Place butter and chocolate in a large bowl and microwave for approx two minutes. If you have a high powered microwave use less time. It's important that it doesn't burn. Check the mix after about one minute and stir. Based on how much it has melted, place back in the microwave. You need to make sure everything has melted yet don't cook it too long otherwise it will burn.

Add two cups of cereal and mix it thoroughly with the chocolate sauce. You can add raisins at this stage, but, if you add more than an ounce or so you may need to reduce your volume of cereal. Adding too much raisins without reducing the volume of cereal may prevent the mix from sticking together.

Using two spoons, drop cookie sized balls on a wax sheet and chill for about 30 minutes. You can also spread the cookie mix in a flat dish and cut into squares after it has chilled.

There are lots of no bake cookie recipes, including no bake desserts. Many are age old classics and can be found in old cook books.

Recipe For an Old Fashion Applesauce Cake Baked in an Iron Skillet

When I was a child growing up in a rural Southern Indiana community, there were always local gatherings and food was always involved. We met at a local farmer's maple syrup camp in the Fall for a wiener roast and taking turns stirring the syrup. We met in the Summer in a neighbor's front yard for an old fashion ice cream social. in fact, this recipe for Iron Skillet Applesauce Cake was his daughter's recipe. We sometimes met at the vacant lot across from the general store for picnics, often with puppet shows and miniature merry-go-round rides on a merry-go-round provided by the local bread company. The local churches held gospel sings followed by snacks and desserts either on the lawn or later in the fellowship halls. Some of my favorite recipes come from foods brought to these functions by the good cooks in the neighborhood. Many of the recipes I post, such as this one, are from these very gatherings. Ah, the memories. Times certainly do change but memories remain!

IRON SKILLET APPLESAUCE CAKE
This recipe was from a neighbor when I was a child.

1 1/2 cup flour
1/2 tsp ground cloves
1/4 tsp nutmeg
1/2 tsp salt
1 tsp ground cinnamon
1/3 cup butter
1 cup unsweetened applesauce
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup brown sugar
1 egg
1 tsp baking soda
1 cup raisins

Preheat the oven to a temperature of 325 degrees. Line the bottom of an iron skillet with waxed paper and set it aside while mixing cake.

Dissolve soda in applesauce. Stir in the sugars, butter, and the beaten egg. Blend in the flour and spices. Add the raisins which have been plumped by mixing 1/4 cup sugar and a little water and bringing to a boil with the raisins. When the cake batter is mixed well pour the batter into the iron skillet and bake for 35 to 40 minutes or until a toothpick in the center comes out clean.

Enjoy!

20-year-old Recipe for French Chocolate Silk Squares

I believe this recipe came from a 1989 edition of Woman's Day magazine but I can't be sure.  It was listed in the "Eating Healthy" section  because it has 1 1/2 tablespoons of oat bran in every square.  Each square also has 188 calories, 4 grams protein, 26 grams carbs, 9 grams fat, 0 mg cholesterol, and 130 mg sodium.  That is pretty good numbers for a dessert!  This is great for family meals, co-workers, holiday gift giving, bake sales, church potluck, etc.  Who doesn't love the idea of chocolate and healthy all in one?  Give these French Chocolate Silk Squares a try today and see just how well healthy and chocolate can be together!

Preparing Fast and Simple Cookie Recipe

If you really feel bored and want to make a thing inside your kitchen, 1 thing you make that may be simple and fast are cookies. To give you an idea, here are a few recipes that are valuable baking.
The initial thing you may make is peanut cookies. For that, you'll need some flour, baking power, white and brown sugar, eggs mil, vegetable oil and obviously, the peanuts.
Though you are preparing the components, you can by now preheat the above to about 300 degrees Fahrenheit or 150 degrees Celsius. Now get a huge bowl and be able to combine all the other elements except the peanuts having a wooden spoon until you have a a brown paste therefore.
Following, pour in the peanuts and combination this with all the paste this moment using your hands. Be sure you really don't overdo it since you do not want the dough to be tough.
Now grab a fraction of an inch of dough and roll it into a small ball using your palm. Right after doing a single, do a different right up until you are able to top off the entire tray. Be sure to leave at least inch or two distance in between each cookie so the dough can expand without compromising the nearby cookies even though it truly is being cooked.
As soon as the tray is complete, fit it inside the oven and bake it for about 20 to 25 mins. Get rid of it right after after which you can sprinkle some powdered sugar then let it cool for a while ahead of serving.
Yet another fast and simple cookie recipe that may be a favored is chocolate chip cookies. Unlike the initial recipe, you need to combine some substances in 1 bowl 1st previous to mixing it while using rest.
With a medium bowl, you mix flour, salt and baking soda. With a bigger bowl, you combine shortening, brown and white sugar along with pure vanilla. Don't overlook to include some eggs and combination it until finally it is utterly combined.
When this really is ready, you combination the content in the medium bowl with people in the larger bowl until finally you have a moderately thick cookie dough.
Now scoop the dough into a small bowl and then placed this around the tray. Make certain just about every ball is at the least an inch apart after which enable it bake from the oven for 8 to 10 mins. If immediately after 8 minutes the cookies still seem doughy, wait for just two far more moments prior to bringing it out of the oven. Allow it sit for three to five moments ahead of serving.
The good thing regarding making cookies is the fact that if your not able to finish every little thing in a person session, you can invariably put the rest in a very cookie jar. Simply remember to finish it as shortly as possible as it tastes distinct following many days.
If you are getting a difficult time removing the cookies from the wax paper or tin foil, it will be handy to have a spatula.
There are different good quick and easy recipes for cookies. You just have to have time to work on the kitchen and then have some fun.
If you are too lazy for making cookies, go and buy some through the outlet. When you carry a bite, ask yourself how they created it and then try to replicate it. That is the best way to learn from those who make millions selling cookies all around the nation.

Christmas Cookie recipe transfer - Fun Holiday Event

Who doesn't like homemade Christmas cookies?

When I was a little girl my favorite holiday treat was no-bake cookies. I remember the sweet aroma throughout the house and the delightful gems lined up across the kitchen counter on waxed paper.

Cookie Bake

Mom made them perfect. She always made them around Christmas time. She made other kinds of cookies, but the no-bake ones stick in my mind.

Are you pressed for time or energy this holiday season and you just don't have the time to make a big variety of homemade cookies? I have a authentically fun solution for you!

Host a Christmas cookie method replacement party. This is an exquisite way to obtain a nice assortment of Christmas cookies. The key to this event is "how many show up"...the more guests you invite, the more recipes and cookies you will end up with.

This event can even involve a holiday meal before hand as well to make it more festive. This is authentically up to you. But, the whole one rule is...each guest that attends has to bring so many dozens of only one type of homemade cookie along with their recipe. (the exact whole of cookies are decided upon by the hostess).

Important Tips For Your Cookie replacement Event

1. It's best to print the recipes on index cards. Each guest will need to bring many copies of their recipe. Make sure your guests include their names on top of each method copy. It would be a good idea for you to have extra index cards on hand just in case there is not enough to go around to each guest that attends.

2. Have your guests call you to let you know what method they will be preparation and bringing to the event. (just to make sure none of them are bringing the same recipe) Of course, you want them all to be unique to contribute a good variety.

3. Have some festive throw away containers or trays available for each of your guests to obtain their cookies in.

4. If you decide on a meal...to make it easy on yourself, finger foods work authentically well for this type of event. Make it a buffet style. A good idea for a beverage would be some hot cider.

5. Have fun with this event and set a festive table display!

A cookie replacement party is a authentically fun way to visit with house and friends and end up with some special holiday treats and recipes all at the same time...not to mention, it saves You time and energy when it comes to baking.

A Recipe Collection--top 3 Most Requested Delicious Desserts

When you are thinking about serving dessert at your next party, consider offering your guests one of these delicious, homemade desserts. I have found that of all the desserts I have served, these are my "Top 3 Most Requested Delicious Desserts" (in no particular order). Enjoy!

Number One Most Requested Delicious Dessert--Raspberry White Chocolate Dream Bars

1 box white cake mix

1/3 cup evaporated milk

1-1/2 sticks melted butter

1 cup chopped nuts

1/2 cup seedless raspberry jam

12 oz. white chocolate chips

Combine cake mix, milk, butter and nuts. Makes a very gooey dough. Spray a 9 x 13 pan and spread half of the dough into the bottom of the pan. Bake for 10 minutes at 350 degrees.

Melt the jam in the microwave (about a minute) and spread on top of hot crust. Immediately sprinkle chocolate chips over jam. Crumble remaining dough on top and bake an additional 20-25 minutes. Cool completely before cutting.

For bigger parties, this recipe easily doubles and can be made in a 15 x 10 pan.

Once you get the hang of this technique, you can think of all sorts of combinations. How about using chocolate cake with mint chips? Or lemon cake with white chocolate?

Number Two Most Requested Delicious Dessert--Chocolate Amaretto Bundt Cake

1 pkg. chocolate devil's food cake mix

1 small pkg. instant chocolate pudding mix

4 eggs

1 cup milk

1-1/2 oz. Amaretto liqueur

1/2 cup vegetable or canola oil

1 cup semi sweet chocolate chips

1 cup fresh raspberries (optional)

1/2 cup seedless raspberry jam (optional)

Whipped cream (optional)

Glaze

1 stick butter

3/4 cup sugar

1/2 cup Amaretto

Preheat oven to 325 degrees. Combine first 6 ingredients and blend well. Stir in chips. Grease and flour a bundt pan. Pour batter into the prepared pan.

Bake for 1 hour or until toothpick comes out clean.

Melt glaze ingredients in a saucepan or microwave. Pour 2/3 of glaze over top of cake while cake is hot from oven and still in pan. Allow cake to remain in pan for 25 minutes. Remove cake from pan and drizzle with remaining glaze.

When I make this cake dessert, I fill the middle with fresh raspberries and present it on my grandmother's crystal pedestal cake stand which is very dramatic.

Just before serving, I make a raspberry sauce by melting the jam in the microwave.

Each lucky guest gets a plate with some of the sauce, a slice of cake, a few berries and some whipped cream. Yum!

Number Three Most Requested Delicious Dessert--Mystic Mint Cookies

These are melt-in-your-mouth heaven!

Dough

1 cup sugar

1 stick (1/2 cup) butter, softened

1 teaspoon vanilla

1 egg

2 squares (1 oz. each) unsweetened chocolate, melted and cooled

1 cup all purpose flour

1/2 teaspoon salt

Heat oven to 375 degrees.

Mix sugar, butter, vanilla, egg and unsweetened chocolate. Stir in flour and salt.

Drop dough by rounded teaspoonfuls about 2 inches apart onto ungreased cookie sheet. Flatten each cookie with fingertips. Bake until set, about 8 minutes. Remove to cooling racks and cool completely.

Peppermint Frosting

2-1/2 cups powdered sugar

1/2 stick (1/4 cup) butter, softened

3 tablespoons milk

1/2 teaspoon peppermint extract

Mix all frosting ingredients until smooth and of spreading consistency.

Chocolate Drizzle

1/2 stick (1/4 cup) butter, softened

2 tablespoons corn syrup

1-6 oz. package semisweet chocolate chips

Simmer all drizzle ingredients over low heat. Stir constantly until butter and chocolate are melted.

Spread peppermint frosting over cooled cookies then drizzle each with chocolate mixture. Leave on counter for 2-3 hours until frosting is set.

If you serve any of these homemade desserts, you can count on your guests being very happy. And I will bet that you will be handing out recipes, just like I do at my house.

The brown sugar provides molasses and so a butterscotch flavor is obtained which is extremely prevalent in chocolate chip macadamia nut cookies. Even so the white sugar gives a lot more crispy texture and also a refined sugary flavor is achieved.

The role with the leavening agents like baking soda and baking powder is important for white chocolate cookie to turn out crispy. The alkaline property of the baking soda immediately brings a formation of bubbles, when put into the batter. After this you have to be very fast and bake the white chocolate macadamia nut cookies without delay. The baking powder conversely is milder and leads to an extra rise once the cookies are baked.

What To Look For In A No-Bake Cookie Recipe

When it comes to cookie recipes, there are certain "must have" ingredients that make the whole thing possible. You've got a binder of some sort, usually flour, that holds the assemblage together. You've got a fat of some sort, that adds moistness and flavor and helps in the browning and cooking. There will usually be a leavening agent, to make the cookie puff up and look right and eat properly. And, of course, you'll have a flavoring of some sort, running the gamut from peanut butter and chocolate chips to more exotic things like anise or poppy seed. The no-bake cookie recipe has some of these, but not all.

First off, very few of the ingredients will be in raw form. Thus, you'll have no raw eggs, very little flour and no leavening agents. Since these cookies will not be baked, eggs would simply make the no bake cookies dangerous, and leavening agents wouldn't have the heat they need to work properly.

Cookie Bake

You may find other cookies or baked goods actually used as flour would be used in a regular cookie recipe. For instance, vanilla wafer cookies, ground or chopped, are often used as the binder for shaped items like baseball cookies.

Even if cookies are not used to make the cookies, some form of finished product will usually find its way into the recipe. Take haystack cookies, that perennial holiday cookie basket favorite, which use chow mein noodles to form the haystack shape and bind together the peanut butter and butterscotch or chocolate. Graham crackers, with their fairly light flavor and sweet finish, are often used. Some recipes even use powdered sugar as "flour," which makes sense from a structural standpoint.

One thing you'll almost never find is a "lightly sweet" no-bake cookie recipe. Almost all of them are very heavy on the sugar, honey, peanut butter, chocolate or other sweet source. Without the subtle chemical reactions of baking, the sugar has to carry the day.

A Brief History of Peppermint

Peppermint was first brought to the United States during the colonial period. Europeans, English and Russian cooks had long discovered its additive value in wines and other recipes. Ancient Egyptians, Greeks and Romans used peppermint oils in wines and sauces. Its distinctive flavor and cooling effect has been used as a remedy for toothache and morning sickness. The American northwest produces much of the peppermint used in today's pharmaceuticals, candy, gum and elixirs.

The Best Chocolate Chip Cookie Recipe

You can get the recipe at the end of the paragraph for these cookies. The most cherished memories of my childhood were of the smells of baking delicious cookies. As I would walk in the door on my house from school I could smell the goodness waiting for me. Many times the cookies were not yet iced and I would sneak one away. Popping a piece of the fresh baked cookie into my mouth was warm and inviting. My mother would usually ask me if I want to help her ice the rest. We had good times and it warmed my heart to take a box of these cookies I helped decorate to people in the nursing home that could no longer come visit us at home for the holidays. Many older people for some reason just love sweet things and their eyes would usually light up as we walked in the door with boxes in our hands. Their delight was not from what present did we bring as they no longer had cares of materials tings but a nice chat with a young person and a delicious cookie filling their tummy was cheer enough for them.

My mom and I never shared our recipes. We did this not be greedy but enjoyed baking so much and giving to others that when prompted for the recipe only replied how many did you want and we would go home and happily make enough for them to have.

Of course times have changed. The recipe my Grandmother changed and my mother changed again has landed in my possession. I don’t quite have the time I did when I was a child but still enjoy baking when I have a chance. The cherished moments with my children when we do have a chance to make a batch of cookies is priceless. Of course with now 3 teenagers in the home and their friends stopping by the batch of cookies does not last more than a day but that makes you feel good.

My mom and I still make cookies as we have ladies order 100 dozen or more for themselves to give as gifts to family and friends and they can no longer bake themselves and the cookies remind them of what they use to be able to bake and they still like to give their families home based goodies instead of store bought preservatives.

Enjoy these recipes. We will try to add a new time tested recipe weekly so check back often and give us your feedback and comments.
