How to Make Sugar Free Cookie Recipes

Having some sugar free cookie recipes in your baking arsenal is very handy when someone enters your life who can't handle the sugar content in regular cookies. With the guidance in this article, you should be able to make the transition to sugar free cookies easily. Let's get started...

Replace The Sugar

The first thing you need to do with your recipe is replace all the sugar in it.

To do this, you are going to need some sort of alternative sugar substitute. You will want to use a natural sweetener, not an artificial sweetener.

The problem with artificial sweeteners is that they can often have detrimental effect on your health, making them a sub-optimal choice for a substitute.

I always make sure to use 100% natural sweeteners to replace the sugar; I also make sure to use sweeteners that are safe for diabetics.

The two main sweeteners that I use are Agave Nectar, and Stevia. I find that I am able to make recipes that are on-par with their sugared counterparts!

To use Agave Nectar effectively, you will want to put in 1 cup of Agave to replace 1 cup of sugar (1:1 ratio).

For Pure Stevia (that has no filler; make sure you get a good brand!), you will use ¼ of a teaspoon for every cup of sugar.

I sometimes like to mix the two together. So if a recipe calls for 1 cup of sugar, I will use ½ cup of Agave; and 1/8 of a teaspoon of Stevia. This helps to keep the recipe from getting to wet (because agave is a syrup).

Do that, and you should be able to make the perfect sugar free cookie recipes.

Optional: Replace The Milk

A little bonus tip I'll throw in here for you:

If you replace any milk in your recipe with Almond Milk, you can make desserts that are perfect for people with food allergies!

Be sure to get the unsweetened almond milk; then sweeten it with Agave Nectar, shake it; and add more Agave until it tastes like regular milk.

Trail Mix Cookie Jar

When I was a kid we always had a cookie jar on the counter, and yes, it was always filled with cookies. Sometimes homemade and sometimes store bought. At my house we have a cookie jar on the table, but it is not filled with cookies. It is filled with trail mix.

With my oldest child growing in size and appetite, a husband with a late night sweet tooth and me always looking for a way to eat without feeling full while pregnant, I was always getting creative with snacks and fresh produce in the kitchen. One day I realized I was keeping our great trail mix hidden away in the pantry where we'd forget about it until I had this idea:

Enter in the Trail Mix Cookie Jar.

Each time I go grocery shopping, I give my almost seven year old daughter the task and total freedom of finding these items:

-2 nut varieties
-2 seed varieties
-2 dried fruit varieties

When you get home, pour the contents into a clean and clear jar with a 1/4 measuring cup for scooping and place on the counter. Tell your kids to come and get it!

You can take this a step further, making the nuts easier to digest by soaking them overnight. Pour them into a bowl of filtered water, mix in a teaspoon of sea salt and allow them to sit until morning. Turn oven on to lowest setting in the morning and rinse nuts, then pour them in a single layer onto a baking sheet and put in the oven for 12-24 hours. You'll give them a shake every couple of hours, and decide when they are at the level of crunch you desire. Once done, take out and allow to cool completely before adding to the contents of the jar.

Sample Trail Mix Cookie Jar recipe:

1 bag cashews
1 bag pecans
1 bag sunflower seeds
1 bag sesame seeds
1 bag dried craisins
1 bag of dried peaches, chop to bite sized pieces

One of the many benefits my family sees from utilizing the Trail Mix Cookie Jar is that we don't experience the blood sugar crash that comes from not eating for hours between meals or snacks. We always know this is an open option for all of us and late night snacking on unhealthy foods (or a run to the grocery store after hours...yuck!) just doesn't happen. Become a company favorite at work by making a Trail Mix Cookie Jar for your office...believe me, your fellow employees will appreciate a break from the sugar filled baked goods that show up every day!

Pizzelle - Host A Cookie Baking Party Featuring Pizzelle This Holiday Season

Baking cookies is inevitably a part of almost any holiday, and naturally, any seasonal treat baking can be done with family and friends. Hosting a cookie making party a few weeks before the holidays is an excellent opportunity to get together with friends and family and get some yummy homemade seasonal treats. There are a lot of beautiful holiday treats that you can help make, ranging from familiar classics like iced chocolate cookies to international staples like Italian pizzelle.

Baking Italian Holiday Treats

Making up some Italian treats is an easy way to have several really wonderful looking desserts. Pizzelle is a classic Italian cookie that looks like a little waffle. The uncooked batter looks much like waffle batter but will usually also include flavoring oils such as orange or lemon. The batter is spooned on a pizzelle iron, which also embosses a design like a floral motif onto the cookie itself.

Pizzelle are often dusted with confectioners sugar while they are cooling, or spread with a nut or chocolate paste and eaten as sandwich cookies. Although there are only a few decorating ideas for these traditional cookies, they still are sought after at cookie parties because of their elegant appearance and the ease in preparing the batches.

Embellishing and Wrapping Your Gifts

Once your party has made all the snacks they want, you can continue the event by trading small batches of cookies with one another so everyone can sample the other batches. You can embellish paper gift bags by hand using scrapbook papers, bits of cute fabric, and paints, and can put together homemade gift tags to customize each bag.

Keep a roll of festive tinted cellophane on hand to wrap up the treats individually, then tie up each cellophane cookie with a pretty ribbon before putting it in a personalized gift bag. After the whole group has received their treats, if you wish you can continue decorating bags and use them as holiday gifts to bring back home and give to those on your gift list.

These are only a few ideas for organizing an entertaining baking party for the holiday season. You could host an even bigger event by inviting more guests and putting even more supplies and embellishing options on the table. In addition to just making pizzelle, you can include a few additional international treats as well as more popular basics such as snickerdoodles and oatmeal raisin cookies. You can also include multiple different icing flavors and recipes, ranging from bright glazes to rich cream cheese.

No matter which treats you incorporate at your baking party, you will definitely have an enjoyable afternoon with friends and family and end the party with holiday cookies that are pretty and taste excellent.

Remember, if you want to invest in a nonstick pizelle iron, then you definitely want to take a look at these pizzelle maker reviews for ones available for sale at a great price.

Bake Perfect Cookies on a Non-Stick Cookie Sheet

Even if you have all required ingredients and use the proper recipe to bake cookies, the absence or improper selection of a cookie sheet can not only ruin their taste but also their shape. Using proper tools and bake ware can help you in making the perfect cookies with the ultimate taste. A large variety of these sheets are available on the market to assist you in the baking process. Using a cookie sheet for baking cookies helps to make sure that your time, effort and ingredients do not go to waste.

These sheets are also known as baking sheets or oven trays. Some of the types being offered in the market include insulated, silicon, aluminum and stainless steel. With various varieties available, non stick oven trays are also available in various designs and styles to suit different ovens and baking needs. These are designed in a way that when the baking product is ready it won't be stuck to the tray or you won't have to put oil on it to ease the baked goodies off the trays.

The use of traditional oven trays requires you to oil these, so that your cookies don't get stuck to the tray. The use of such trays also leaves some food behind because of the sticky surface. In contrast, baking is made much easier and convenient with the use of non stick utensils. The non stick items and their excellent features make the cooking process easier. Superior quality materials are used in the production of these items to ensure that everything is evenly cooked. Some models of bake ware have two aluminum sheets that have a layer of air between the two. The purpose of this is to reduce the metal temperature and to ensure that each cookie gets the same amount of heat.

Such features reduce the chances or likelihood of burnt cookies and makes sure that cookies do not get over done or burn. The use of such trays not only helps you bake in lesser time, but also provides you with great taste and experience. Non stick surfaced oven sheets are expensive compared to the conventional ones but investing in them can make your cooking experience an ultimate one. Choosing the right non stick sheet is essential and baking enthusiasts swear by these as an essential kitchen item.

Chewy Vs Crunchy - Cookie Baking Tips

Cookies are a fun treat that can be made for any occasion of even just for fun. There are literally millions of recipes for cookies and different designs too.

When giving away cookies as gifts, you should consider the following three factors:
One: The theme of the party or the occasion
Two: The flavor of the cookies
Three: The texture of the cookies: chewy or crunchy or in between.

Professional bakers are skilled at creating cookies in various textures, including chewy, semi-chewy and crunchy. However, most folks that try to bake their own cookies at home don't know how to do this. What should be done to make a cookie crunchy, chewy or in between? Well, difficult as it may sound, the secret is in the sugar. Here are some simple cookie baking tips:

Cookies are laden with butter, shortenings and sweetener. The first thing to do is to look at the recipe and see the measurements of the sugar and then note what kind of sweetener is used. There should be two kinds: brown sugar and white sugar. It is in the type of sugar used that will totally transform the texture of the cookies.

Crunchy cookies will need white sweetener and hardly any brown sweetener. So if the cookie recipe is say, chocolate chip cookies, and the sugars used are both brown and white, to achieve the crunchy effect simply put in more of the white sugar than the brown, or simply eliminate the brown and use all white. Example: if the recipe calls for 2 cups white sugar and 1 cup brown sugar, to get the full crunchy effect use 2 cups white sugar plus 3/4 white sugars.

Semi crunchy cookies or semi-chewy cookies will again need a variation of the two sugar measurements. Again, if the original recipe calls for 2 cups white sugar and 1 cup brown sugar make it 1 1/2 cups white and 2 cups brown. This will make the cookies not too crunchy and not too chewy - it will be just right!

For chewy cookies, another variation of the measurements between the two sugars will have to be done. If the original is again 2 cups white sugar and 1 cup brown sugar make it 4 1/2 cups brown sugar. This will give the cookies the chewy effect that is so great with chocolate chip cookies.

Now, for a bonus: there are people who like their cookies gooey chewy. This is not impossible to achieve. Again for the 2 cups white sugar and 1 cup brown sugar original recipe, convert the measurements to 4 cups brown sugar and 1/2 molasses or honey. This will give the cookies a super gooey chewy effect.

Now for those who are curious why the sugars are considered the key, well it may take a lot of explanations but to simplify the process, it is the brown sugar that makes the cookies chewy. Also, the same thing can be done with cakes. More brown sugar will make the cake moister.

3 Great Preschool Cookie Day Activities

December 4th is National Cookie Day. Kids love cookies and will be excited to try these preschool cookie day activities. Try baking and decorating cookies with your children. Read stories about cookies and talk about which are their favorite kind of cookies.

Baking Cookies

If possible, bake some cookies with your children. Have the kids read the recipe and help measure the ingredients. Let the kids mix the dough together. You can find basic sugar cookie recipes in any cook book or on the Internet. The kids can spoon the dough onto cookie sheets. Have them use enough dough to make larger cookies, since they will be decorating them.

Once the cookies have cooled, the kids will enjoy decorating them. Provide icing and large craft sticks for spreading the icing on the cookies. Let them decorate the cookies with sprinkles or a variety of candies. If desired, have them make cookie faces with the candy. When they have finished, take a picture of each child with his or her creation. Display the pictures on the class bulletin board.

Play Dough Cookies

Make a batch of home made play dough. A good basic play dough recipe: one cup of flour, 1/4 cup of salt, one cup water and one table spoon cream of tartar. Mix all the ingredients and cook over medium heat. Cook the mixture and stir until it forms a soft ball. Knead the dough and add some food coloring. You can split the batch and make two colors. For play dough cookies, use brown for chocolate, pink for strawberry or leave half the batch without coloring for an off white color that works well for cookies.

When the play dough has cooled, the kids will have fun pretending to make cookies. Give them a variety of cookie cutters and wooden dowels for rolling the dough. Plastic knives or craft sticks can be used to cut the dough shapes. This activity is fun and also good for fine motor development.

Cookie Tasting Party

Have a party and let your children taste a variety of cookies. Bring in sugar cookies, chocolate chips, oatmeal or any other variety of cookies. Consider trying a few unique cookie recipes from other cultures. If desired, ask parents to bake and bring in cookies from their native country. This will expose the children to other cultures while having fun tasting cookies.

Let the children taste some of each type of cookie. You can make a journal sheet with each type of cookie. The kids can note whether they liked each type or not. When they have finished tasting the cookies, talk about the results. Graph each child's responses on a large graph made from butcher's paper. Which flavor was most or least liked by the children?

Easy Sugar Cookie Recipes: From Delicious Drop Cookies To Fun, Tasty Cut-Outs

If you're in the mood for something sweet, there are a lot of easy sugar cookie recipes to choose from. But sugar cookies come in all sorts of different shapes and sizes. They can be as simple as drop cookies, a spoonful of dough dropped onto a cookie sheet, or as elaborate as carefully cut-out cookies decorated with pretty, colorful icing.

So which one of those easy sugar cookie recipes should you pick? Which one will give you the best results for the type of sugar cookie you're trying to make?

The truth is, most easy sugar cookie recipes use the same basic list of ingredients, with maybe an added spice here or there. What it really comes down to are the quantities of each ingredients, and how you treat the dough.

Each ingredient in a sugar cookie has a specific role, and tweaking its quantity will give you a slightly different cookie. So what goes in a sugar cookie?

Flour. Flour gives the cookie its structure. When you mix flour in liquids, it forms tough strands of gluten. The more you mix it, and the more flour you add, the tougher a cookie you get.
Butter. Butter doesn't just add flavor. It also helps the cookie stay more tender by preventing too much gluten from forming. It also lets the cookie spread out more.
Sugar. Sugar helps the cookies be more fluffy by trapping air inside the butter when you cream it. Also, if you don't cream it enough, the undissolved sugar will make the cookie spread out more.
Eggs. The yolks help make a more tender cookie, and the whites help give it structure. They also add some moisture.
Baking powder. Baking powder helps the cookie rise.
Baking soda. Baking soda makes the cookies brown faster, and makes the cookie more tender.
Vanilla. Vanilla is just there for flavor, but it really does make all the difference.
Salt. Like vanilla, the salt is just there for flavor, although it can toughen the cookie, too.

But it's not just the ingredients that matter in easy sugar cookie recipes. How you handle the dough will affect what kind of cookie you get.

The longer you cream the butter and sugar, the fluffier a cookie you'll get. It also won't spread as much, perfect to help cut out cookies keep their shape.
The longer you mix the flour with the wet ingredients, the tougher a cookie you'll get. If you're looking for something fluffy, avoid over-mixing.
If you want to roll out the dough, you'll need to refrigerate it until it's firm enough to work with.
You can also refrigerate the raw cookies once they're shaped. It helps them keep their shape in the oven.

When you're baking, it's always a good idea to start with a recipe. But once you have a decent recipe, you can tweak it to suit your tastes and purposes, and make your own easy sugar cookie recipes.

Three No Bake Cookie Recipes

Kids love cookies, but moms are often too busy to bother baking in the summertime. But wouldn't it be great if the kids could make their own? The first recipe requires no baking at all. The second recipe makes use of a stove top and the third recipe needs just a microwave. Because these aren't baked, you don't have to worry about the chemistry of the ingredients. That makes them practically full proof!

RECIPE 1 COOKIE DOUGH NO BAKES: Here is a twist on a no bake cookie. The recipe calls for ¼ cup butter creamed with 1/3 cup brown sugar. If you don't have brown sugar just use regular sugar. (If you are a purist add a teaspoon of molasses or maple extract.) Add 1 cup of oatmeal, 7 ounces of sweetened condensed milk and ½ teaspoon of vanilla extract. Add ½ cup of chips or nuts or ¼ cup of each. Shape the dough into one-inch round balls or use a cookie scoop. Place on wax paper and chill for about an hour. With a one-tablespoon sized scoop, you should get about 25 cookies.

I collect different chips throughout the year to use for cookie decorating at Christmas. So I have coffee-flavored, peanut butter, red cherry-flavored, green mint-flavored, yogurt and butterscotch chips that I like to use for variety and for color. I also keep different chopped nuts in the refrigerator. Mix and match to your heart's content to make up that last half cup.

I call the standard no-bake cookies my "kitchen sink cookies," because I like to add whatever I have on hand to them. The only concern is keeping a balance between the wet and dry ingredients, so that they will harden when chilled.

RECIPE 2 STANDARD NO BAKE COOKIES: Besides nuts and chips, I like to add coconut flakes also. For anyone allergic to chocolate, I have adapted this recipe for carob powder. So mix 2 cups of sugar with ½ cup each of milk, butter and carob powder in a pan. If using cocoa, just use ¼ cup of cocoa powder. Cook for one minute after it comes to a boil. Add ½ cup chunky or plain peanut butter, a teaspoon of vanilla extract and 3 cups of oatmeal. Drop on wax paper and chill. Try different extracts, like cinnamon or peppermint, but use less than a teaspoon. I have candy flavorings on hand that only require a few drops for a big flavor.

The oatmeal takes up a lot of the moisture, so I use a little less of it, if I am adding nuts or chips or coconut flakes. The recipe is fairly forgiving and allows for a lot of experimenting. If you are short on oatmeal, dig in the bottom of a cereal box and use the crumbs from that to come up with the 3 cups. You can also crush some cereal, graham crackers or vanilla wafers to compensate.

RECIPE 3 STRAWBERRY NO BAKE BALLS: Now for sheer decadence, here is a recipe that only makes a dozen cookies. You can double the recipe, but they are very rich. Microwave on low to melt ¼ cup of semi-sweet chocolate chips and let cool (or use ¼ cup carob powder and skip the microwaving). If the chips don't melt (and some won't), just grind them till they are a powder. Mix in 2 ounces of cream cheese. Stir in 1 large chopped strawberry. (I have also used 5-6 raspberries.)

Add 20 crushed vanilla wafers. Use more wafers if the batter is too thin. Refrigerate 2 hours until firm and then shape into 1-inch balls. Microwave some Candy Melt flavored chips until melted (use defrost setting for about 1 to 1 1/2 minutes) and dip the chilled balls into the melted chips. Place on wax paper and refrigerate until set. I rate these PG for mature audiences. They may be richer than your younger children can appreciate!

The Small Cookie Has a Huge History

Having a cookie dough fundraiser is a great way to earn money for your school, church or any organization.  But, what is a cookie?  Well, by definition, a cookie can be any of a variety of hand-held, flour-based sweet cakes, either crisp or soft.  End result, a cookie is, something very sweet and yummy.  Every country has its own name for cookie; in Spain they are called galletas, England and Australia call them biscuits while Germans call them keks.  Some countries like Italy have different names for each different type of cookie like amaretti and biscotti.

Fun Cookie Baking Ideas

If you or your house are bored with eating the same cookies why not try something a small different? Say goodbye to your Oatmeal and raisin or Chocolate Chip, not that I could ever give up the latter completely, and be a bit more inventive.

I am however, open to all suggestions and am willing to experiment with distinct flavors. If you don't try you never know, that's my motto in the kitchen.

Cookie Bake

There are a few new cookies which I've tried lately, and I'm so glad that I did. Here are a few of the ones I made that were really tasty and will right on be on my list from now on when baking day comes around.

The first new way I tried was to make my cookies from a cake mixture. They are really tasty, and you even get the authentic cracks in the cookies. The charm of this is the range of flavors you can buy a cake mix in.

The next one I tried was using dough made from peanut butter. You can make this yourself or buy it ready made. When you take the cookies from the oven originate a space inside each cookie and pop in a peanut butter cup, get the picture?

If you prefer your chocolate to be white rather than brown, then a great blend for cookies is white chocolate with cranberry. The two flavors blend together within the cookie to originate a taste sensation. These have proved to be very favorite and I'm being asked now to make them for people.

My last suggestion for today is to get your cookie dough and throw in some butter toffee, chocolate chips and cherry. Very sweet and delicious, these will soon become a firm favorite in your household.

The great thing about baking cookies is that there are no rules. You may have some great ideas yourself, don't keep them as ideas, give them a go. Try some of my ideas with some of your own, you should enjoy both production and eating cookies.

Everything You Need To Know About the Christmas Cookie Cutter

Christmas is a very popular time of the year that brings out many different traditions including the tradition of making cookies with the use of Christmas cookie cutter. One of the traditions that is enjoyed by many is the tradition of gathering together to make Christmas cookies for the entire family. Kitchens are filled with laughter and joy as cookie baking activities go on for hours and hours.
The Christmas cookie cutter can take on a number of different shapes and forms, and they can also be made from a number of different materials. You probably can name some of the more famous characters of the Christmas holiday, and these characters are what you often see cookie cutters being shaped into. Santa Claus, Frosty The Snowman, Rudolph The Red Nose Reindeer, Christmas trees, stars, snowflakes, candy canes, and presents are all objects of this spectacular holiday that you will often find as the focus of the Christmas cookie cutter shape. Every family has their own Christmas traditions, and their favorite characters when it comes to the different Christmas tales that you hear about, so which ones are used to in the cookie making process will vary from family to family.
Christmas cookie cutters are most commonly made from either plastic or metal. Plastic is usually used in the items that are generally only going to be used in the baking process because they are cheaper to make, and a large amount of production of these items is required because they become very popular during the holiday season. In order to mass produce them in a more cost effective manner, the cheapest material has to be used, which in most cases is plastic.
Different types of metal can be used when making the Christmas cookie cutter. Some of the types of metal that are more commonly used are metal, tin, and copper. Copper is one of the more popular metals desired when cookie cutters are purchased strictly for decoration. There is just something about the shiny copper look that seems to add a little extra touch of class to any home decoration.
The Christmas cookie cutter doesn't necessarily have to be used in the process of making cookies. It can actually be used for a number of other purposes as well. One great way that you can use this item is to add a little extra décor to any gifts that you give out during the holiday season. It's easy to incorporate any one of the different Christmas symbols into your gift wrapping presentation. Simply wrap your present that you are going to give someone, tie a string style bow around it, and then type a
Christmas cookie cutter or two into the bow. You can use matching colors or you could use one red and one green to get both of the primary Christmas colors, whatever you prefer. The point is when you are done you will have a nicely decorated present that is well accented with a Christmas cookie cutter or two that your gift receiver can use for themselves.

Chocolate Cookie Recipes (fun to Make With the Kids)

One of the best ways to make memories with your children or grandchildren is to allow them in the kitchen with you.  Kids love to bake and they enjoy eating and sharing with others the goodies they make.  It is also a fun learning experience for them, one they don't even realize is a lesson.  Organing ingredients, following the instructions in the recipe, working together to make something special, and don't forget clean-up.  It is important for children to learn that after the fun, there is clean-up to be done.  If you work it right, they will even think that is part of the fun.  Counting and measuring is also a good math lesson.  So don't try to keep your children out of the kitchen.  Invite them in and have fun together.  Homemade Chocolate Sandwich Cookies is a recipe they will love as they get to put the cookies and filling together to make "sandwiches".  They may not get them perfect but life is not about perfection in everything.  You aren't trying to make a masterpiece, just a cookie!  And the kids will love dunking the Chocolate Dunk Cookies in the chocolate mixture.  Note:  When baking with chocolate and children, be sure they wear aprons, smocks, or older clothing.

Christmas Cookie Baking Recipes

The first beautiful dusting of fluffy white snow all the time puts me in the mood for baking Christmas cookies. At this time of year I tend to spend longer hours in the kitchen, baking up huge batches of cookies and candies as holiday music and movies play in the background. I love and have all the time loved the tastes and smells that come from a kitchen filled with love at Christmas time. Here are two of my recipes for original Christmas cookie favorites.

Gingerbread Cookies

Cookie Bake

6 cups flour

1 tablespoon baking powder

1 tablespoon ground ginger

1 teaspoon ground nutmeg

1 teaspoon ground cloves

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1 cup shortening, melted and cooled

1 cup molasses

1 cup packed brown sugar

1/2 cup water

1 egg

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

In a medium bowl, sift the dry ingredients together (flour, baking powder, ginger, nutmeg, cloves, cinnamon). In a large bowl, mix the shortening, molasses, brown sugar, water, egg, and vanilla. Mix well. Add in the dry ingredient aggregate slowly and mix well. Divide the dough into 3 pieces, make into pieces no bigger than 1 1/2 inch thick, wrap and refrigerate for 3 or more hours. Roll the dough (about 1/4 inch thick) out on a slightly floured outside and cut into shapes (smaller shapes work best with this dough). Bake in a 350 degree oven for 10 to 12 minutes. Frost with powdered sugar icing (milk or cream and powdered sugar). Word of warning on this recipe, it makes a very large batch so I hope you have a lot of house and friends to share this with.

Sugar Cookies (roll-out)

3 cups flour

1 cup sugar

1/2 teaspoon salt

1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder

1 cup soft butter

1 beaten egg

3 tablespoons cream

1 teaspoon vanilla

Combine softened butter and sugar until creamy. Add in egg, cream, and vanilla. Sift together flour, salt, and baking powder and add it to the liquid mixture. Chill for at least one hour. Roll out to about 1/4 inch thickness on a lightly floured outside and cut into your popular Christmas cookie shapes. Bake in a 350 degree oven for about 10 minutes. If desired, put red and green sprinkles on top of the cookies before putting them in the oven. If you would rather make it a house project, bake the cookies, allow to cool, and make a powdered sugar frosting (milk and powdered sugar). Divide up the frosting into distinct bowls and color it with food coloring. Sprinkles, chocolate chips, red hots, and mini M&Ms can help add fun to the frosting process.

distinct Types of Cookie Sheets Yield distinct Tasting Cookies

Anybody who takes the time to make cookies from scratch obviously wants them to come out perfectly and taste delicious. Mixing ingredients is approximately unheard of these days with just about all being ready in pre-mixed or pre-made packages. Most population naturally buy a roll of cookie dough, slice it, and stick it in the oven for 15-18 minutes. However, for the individuals out there who still take the time to make their own cookie dough, it's leading to know the differences in the middle of all the types of sheets ready in shop today. There are a multitude of them, and believe it or not, they all yield separate results.

Insulated Non-stick Sheet

Cookie Bake

Most insulated sheets are made to be non-stick, and because insulated sheets are sometimes on the more expensive side, they tend to resist scratches, chipping, and peeling. Insulated cookie sheets are basically two sheets that have been linked colse to the edges, which creates a small pocket of air that cannot escape. The air inside of the pocket heats to the set climatic characteristic of the oven when the sheet is settled inside.

Insulated cookie sheets are very reliable for evenly baked cookies. Because the air inside the sheet heats to the climatic characteristic of the oven, it allows all the cookies on the sheet to cook and brown at the same rate. The evenly heated air prevents the sheet from being hotter in definite spots, which is a coarse occurrence with quarterly sheets. In increasing to yummy cookies, most insulated sheets are easy to clean because of their non-stick surfaces.

Aluminum

Aluminum cookie sheets are very commonly used. Aluminum conducts heat well which is why cookie sheets made of this material usually yield an evenly baked cookie. The only down side to aluminum is that it sometimes prevents cookies from reaching the excellent shade of brown.

Cookie sheets made of aluminum are very sturdy and they won't rust even if they have to be soaked in water for and extended duration of time. Heavy aluminum baking sheets are better to use than the thin types that are ready for less money. Thin aluminum sheets can bend and/or warp in a hot oven which can cause cookies to cook unevenly.

Non-Stick Cookie Sheets

When non-stick cookie sheets were invented, a whole new world of baking emerged. The ease of cleaning a cookie sheet with a non-stick covering is amazing, and it approximately eliminates the need to butter the sheet before cooking. Washing a non-stick sheet is a breeze and hardly requires whatever but a quick scrub.

Non-stick sheets have a covering coating that makes them easy to clean, yet they are still able to yield yummy cookies. Keep in mind that the darker the non-stick surface, the quicker the cookies will brown. Therefore, it's leading to read the instructions that come with the sheet to find out if the maker recommends that the oven's cooking climatic characteristic be lowered to compensate. It may be vital to lower the climatic characteristic of the oven by about 25 degrees.

In conclusion, cookie sheets can be made of a amount of separate types of materials, or even a combination of materials. Every sheet will yield a separate end consequent for the same exact cookie recipe. The darker the sheet, the faster the cookies will brown because a dark sheet absorbs heat more facilely and transfers the heat directly to the cookies. Aluminum cookie sheets are good conductors of heat but are not good for ensuring that the cookies will brown. Insulated cookie sheets will ensure evenly baked cookies no matter how they are spaced on the sheet. For best results, try out a cookie formula on all three types of sheets and determine which yields the desired results.

Tasty Berger Cookie formula

To make the Berger Cookies, you will need a thorough Berger Cookie recipe. There should be recipes to make Berger cookies and the recipe for the rich chocolate icing as well.

For the cookies, you will need one cup or eight ounces of unsalted butter, one and a half teaspoons of salt, one tablespoon of baking powder, two teaspoons of vanilla extract, three large eggs, one and a half cups of sugar, eight ounces of milk and four and a half cups or 19 ounces of all-purpose flour. To make the chocolate icing, the ingredients will comprise four ounces of unsweetened baking chocolate, three and a half cups of semi-sweet chocolate chips, four tablespoons of unsalted butter, two tablespoons of light corn syrup, and one and a half cup of heavy cream or can be replaced by sour cream.

Cookie Bake

Here comes the recipe to make the Berger cookies. First, preheat the oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit and grease lightly or line the baking sheets using parchments. Use a large bowl and mix the cream together with the butter, vanilla, salt and baking powder. Beat the composition and while adding the sugar. Add also the eggs but one at a time, beating well after every addition.

Then add the flour into the composition alternately with the milk but beginning and ending last with the flour. Accomplish the increasing gently and there is no need to beat the mixture. By using a muffin scoop, scoop the dough onto the prepared baking sheets. Flatten the dough using wet fingers to a circle of about three-inch of diameter. Leave even spaces of about two inches between each cookie for expansion. Bake the cookies for roughly 11 minutes or until they turn brownish at the bottom. You may look for browning hints on the edges but remember not to over bake the cookies. Leave the cookies to cool and they will be ready for icing.

The next step in the Berger Cookie recipe is to make the icing. First pour the chocolate chips, corn syrup, cream, baking chocolate and cream into a big microwave-safe bowl. Then heat the composition until it turns very hot or when the cream starts to form bubbles. Turn off the heat and continue stirring until smooth. Allow the composition to cool to room climatic characteristic and this may take a concentrate of hours. When it is wholly cooled, use the mixer to beat it for six to seven minutes or until the icing turns lighter in color and slightly thicker. Then spread each cookie with three tablespoons of icing, leaving about a quarter inch around the edge of each cookie. Using a heaped tablespoon of cookie scoop would be good. Allow them to merge perfectly and it is ready to be served.
