Chocolate Kisses Cookies

This has been in our family for a long time. The recipe is easy and the cookies are delicious! Kids love to help bake these cookies, and is a good way to enjoy holiday baking. What could be better than a warm cookie and a cold glass of milk?

Ingredients

1 16 ½ ounce package of refrigerated chocolate chip cookie dough

1/3 cut unsweetened cocoa powder

2/3 cup chocolate flavored sprinkles

2 tablespoons milk

Dark chocolate kisses, unwrapped (about 40)

Directions

1.Preheat oven to 375 degrees F. Lightly grease a cookie sheet and set aside. Combine cookie dough and cocoa powder in a resealable plastic bag. Seal the bag, and knead with your hands until the dough and cocoa are mixed together. Remove the dough from the bag.

2.Place chocolate sprinkles in a shallow dish or small bowl. Put the milk in another small bowl.

3.Shape the dough into 1-inch balls. Dip balls in the milk to moisten the dough, then roll in chocolate sprinkles. Place the cookie balls 2 inches apart on the prepared cookie sheet.

4.Bake the cookies in a preheated oven for 8 minutes, or until the edges are firm. Immediately press a chocolate kiss into the center of each cookie. Move cookies to a wire rack to cool. Makes about 40 cookies.

To Store: Layer cookies between waxed paper in an airtight container and cover. Store at room temperature for up to 3 days, or can be frozen for up to 3 months.

No Bake Orange Goodies are so quick and easy it is ridiculous. With orange juice, coconut, pecans, and vanilla wafers, you just know they have to be good. They are also perfect to make with the kids. There is no oven to cause burns, they are fun to roll into balls, and children love rolling them in the coconut. The Quick Peanut Butter Cookies have only four ingredients and one of them is sweetened condensed milk. Have you ever found a bad recipe that contained sweetened condensed milk? The Easy Chocolate Crackles use a cake mix and have a wonderful fudgy center. You can make any of these yummy cookies with a minimum amount of time, preparation, and clean-up.

NO BAKE ORANGE GOODIES
1 lb powdered sugar
1 stick butter, melted
1 can (6-oz) frozen orange juice, thawed and undiluted
1 lb vanilla wafers, crushed into fine crumbs

1 cup grated coconut

Combine powdered sugar, butter, orange juice, vanilla wafer crumbs, and nuts together well. Shape mixture into balls. Roll balls in the coconut.

QUICK PEANUT BUTTER COOKIES
1 can (14-oz) sweetened condensed milk
1/2 cup creamy peanut butter
dash of salt
1 1/2 cups fine graham cracker crumbs

In a medium mixing bowl, combine the sweetened condensed milk, peanut butter, and salt; mix together well. Stir the graham cracker crumbs into the peanut butter mixture until well combined. Drop by teaspoonfuls, about 2-inches apart, on cookie sheet that has been lightly sprayed with nonstick cooking spray. Bake at 375 degrees for approximately 12 minutes until lightly browned. Remove from oven and allow to cool on cookie sheet 2 to 3 minutes. Remove to cool completely.

EASY CHOCOLATE CRACKLES
These cookies are easy to make and they are delicious with a fudge-like center.

1 box Devil's Food Cake Mix
2 eggs, slightly beaten
1 tbsp water
1/2 cup shortening
powdered sugar for rolling

Stir together the cake mix, eggs, water, and shortening until well blended. Using your hands, shape the dough into small (about 1-inch) balls. Roll the balls in powdered sugar and place on an ungreased cookie sheet, about 1 1/2-inches apart.

Bake at 375 degrees for 8 to 10 minutes.

Yield: approximately 4 dozen cookies.

Enjoy!

How To Bake The Perfect Chocolate Chip Cookies

Chocolate chip cookies are the most basic and common cookies that you can find at any bakery shops yet only several of them really stand out. Mine did, so here I am to help you bring out the real 'thing' in your own chocolate chip cookie recipe.

1) Not all butter is the same. The best kind of butter that you want to use for your recipe would be the unsalted butter. In my case, I use the ones from Anchor, the brand of the butter.

2) Don't take too much time mixing the wet ingredients. The key to this is to first blend in the butter evenly, then mix the other ingredients with high speed. The faster, the better. This is to prevent any air that would enter the mix.

3) Remember to always preheat the oven first, about 20 minutes.

4) The temperature for any recipe can always be manipulated. Preferably, use mid-low temperature, for the dough to be cooked evenly.

5) Don't depend on the recipe itself on how long you should bake for a batch. You should determine this yourself by checking the cookies' colour. Up till now, I still don't know how long would it take to bake a batch of cookies using my secret recipe.

6) Always let the cookies cool. Can't stress this enough.

7) I presume all of you know that the darker the colour of the vanilla extract, the better, right?

8) Always sift the flour, you might not want those small unknown particles in your cookies and serve them to your guests/customers.

9) Let the dough aside for awhile after mixing everything altogether including the chocolate chip cookies. The result of this if the dough will turn firm and it will be much easier for you to arrange the balls of dough on the tray. Plus, it wouldn't turn out as much flat.

10) Remember to always mix the dry ingredients evenly, with your bare hands. Yes, you got that right.

11) How about salt? Never follow the recipe directly. Salt is not needed as much as baking cakes. A pinch will do the work, just to balance out the taste evenly.

So five secrets to perfect chocolate chip cookies! The tips given are based on my long experience. Follow them and see what I meant. Remember to keep in touch for more exclusive cookie-baking tips from me! http://www.afookies.blogspot.com

Chocolate Meringue Cookies - The Ultimate in Indulgence

Cookies are a real comfort food and if you are looking for dessert recipes or Cinco de Mayo recipes you might be interested in recipes like this. Chocolate cookies are one of the most popular varieties and adding meringue to your recipe makes them even lighter, more interesting, and more delicious.

Everyone has their own favorite type of cookies but chocolate tops a lot of lists. Vanilla cookies, strawberry cookies and raisin cookies are also very popular and it is fun to make different variations if you enjoy baking. Mexican ingredients such as vanilla and cinnamon work well in most dessert recipes and Mexican desserts often use these ingredients because they combine so nicely with one another.

Meringue is made with egg whites. When you beat egg whites, it is very important to ensure the mixing bowl and beater are spotlessly clean. Any spot of grease means the egg whites will not form stiff peaks, and this means that you will not be able to make meringues with them, so check that your equipment is grease-free before you start.

The following recipe makes seventy of these little treats, which might sound like a lot but they do keep well for up to a week if you keep them in a tightly sealed container. The vanilla and chocolate are amazing together and the cinnamon adds a distinctive Mexican touch, which is great if you are looking for exciting Cinco de Mayo recipes to make for the kids.

What you will need:

4 egg whites
1/8 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/8 teaspoon salt
3 oz chopped semisweet chocolate
1/2 cup white sugar
1/4 teaspoon cream of tartar
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

How to make them:

Preheat the oven to 300 degrees F. Grease a pair of baking sheets. Grind the chocolate in a food processor, and then sift it through a sieve so that no pieces will be able to block the tip of a pastry bag. Beat the egg whites with the vanilla, salt, and cream of tartar until they form stiff peaks.

Add them to the chocolate and keep beating them on a medium speed. Add the sugar and cinnamon gradually. Pipe this mixture, a teaspoon at a time, on to the prepared baking sheets.

Bake them for half an hour or until they are starting to brown and come away from the baking sheets. Let them cool on racks and keep them in an airtight container for up to a week. You can serve these little snacks with ice cream or whipped cream. They are also nice served alone or with a glass of milk or cup of coffee. Just try to eat only one - it is nearly impossible! These are so good you will want at least two!

Mexican food is easy to make and if you are looking for sweet Mexican recipes, such as Cinco de Mayo recipes for desserts, what about using chocolate, cinnamon or vanilla to make the best desserts? Cookies are just one example of a mouthwatering dessert recipe that you can make with typical Mexican ingredients.

Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookies - Quick-Cook Vs Old Fashioned Oats

Oatmeal chocolate chip cookies are every bit as delicious as a traditional chocolate chip cookie. I like to stray every now and then from chocolate chip cookies and whip up a batch of oatmeal cookies. There is something to be said about sneaking whole grains into your child's diet without hearing any complaints. Choosing which whole grain to put in the cookie dough should take some consideration, but not to be worried about if you only have one particular kind of oat in your pantry.

There are three kinds of oats to consider when making oatmeal chocolate chip cookies. They are:

Steel -Cut: These oats are in their most whole form and make a very chewy cookie. When eaten as a breakfast cereal they can take up to thirty minutes to cook. The more a grain is kept in its whole form, the healthier it is for you.
Old Fashioned: Also known as rolled oats, these oats have been rolled and pressure cooked which allows for a faster cook time. This oat is still very close to whole and will produce a chewy cookie.
Quick-Cook : Quick cook oats are processed and cooked therefore losing some nutrients and flavor, and the fastest oat of the three to cook on the stove top. The flavor should really only be a concern when eating alone as a breakfast cereal. In oatmeal chocolate chip cookies quick oats will still produce a flavorful enough cookie since there are so many other ingredients that enhance the cookie. Quick oats will produce a cookie with a consistent texture.

Ideally, you should use whatever oats a cookie recipe calls for. Often the recipe will not state specifically and you are left to guess. In the past I have successfully used a rolled oat and a quick cook oat in my recipe depending on what I have on hand. Rolled oats, aside from making chewier cookies, make thicker cookies with lots of texture. I prefer to add raisins to a rolled oat cookie. A quick-cook oat produces a smoother textured slightly moister cookie. These oats are perfect for making oatmeal chocolate chip cookies. Both cookies will taste similar aside from whatever baking pieces are added to the dough.

Instant oats are completely left out as an option for cookies. These oats have been so processed and depleted of flavor and nutrients that there would almost be no point. I have never attempted to use an instant oat in my cookies. Since they usually turn into a soupy mess in my cereal bowl, I have never chanced it by putting them in my cookies. Not to mention how uneconomical it would be. Just how many of those little envelopes would it take for a batch of cookies?

Try this really yummy oatmeal cookie recipe.

Baking With Agave Nectar - Chocolate Chip Cookies

Baking with agave nectar (instead of granulated sugar) is as easy as pie, if you adjust to a few simple facts.

Agave is 1.4 times sweeter than sugar
It adds additional liquid to the recipe
It browns quicker than a recipe with sugar
It also makes the batter a bit stickierLet's look at a standard chocolate chip cookie recipe and see what we need to change if we want to bake it with our natural sweetener.

3/4 cup sugar
3/4 cup packed brown sugar
2 sticks (1 cup) butter, softened
2 large eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
3/4 teaspoon salt
2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
1 cup chopped pecans or walnuts (optional)

First, we want to replace the 1 1/2 cups of refined sugar, of course. I recommend using 1 cup (it's sweeter than sugar, remember?) of amber agave to compensate a little for the loss of the brown sugar flavor.

Secondly, we need to re-thicken the batter because of the extra liquid from the agave syrup. So, let's increase the flour to 2 1/2 cups.

Next, turn down the oven temperature by 25 degrees. Cookies are normally baked at 375 degrees F, but since agave sweetened baked goods brown faster, we want to bake them in a slightly "slower" oven.

And finally, make sure your cookie pans are lined with parchment paper and sprayed well.

Chocolate Chip Cookie Recipe With Agave Nectar

1 cup amber agave nectar
2 sticks butter, softened
2 large eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
3/4 teaspoon salt
2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
1 cup chopped pecans or walnuts (optional)

I'm sure you know the procedure for mixing a cookie dough, but just in case...

1. Beat the agave, butter, eggs and vanilla by hand or in an electric mixer until creamy and fluffy.

2. Sift together the flour, soda, and salt, and blend it thoroughly with the creamed mix.

3. Fold the chocolate chips and optional nuts into the batter.

4. Bake it off at whatever size you like. (I prefer 8-inch cookies. But, I'm a glutton!) Check your oven after 8 minutes or so. It shouldn't take much longer than 8-10 minutes.

Note: Baking cookies with agave nectar will result in a softer, moister end product.

One last tip: If you want to avoid all white sugar in your diet, use unsweetened or malt-sweetened chocolate chips!

The Best Oatmeal, Chocolate Chip, Pecan Cookies

There is nothing quite like a chocolate chip cookie to make a blue day brighter. Children beg for them, and love to help make them. If you don't keep careful watch, they disappear faster than you can bake them! Even grandpa will snitch a few when you turn your back!

The very best chocolate chip cookie I have ever tasted is in an oatmeal cookie base, with pecans for an extra crunch.

Oatmeal, Chocolate Chip, Pecan Cookies

3 cup sifted flour
2 tsp. soda
2 tsp. salt
2 cup shortening
1 1/2 cup brown sugar
1 1/2 white sugar
4 eggs
2 tsp. hot water
1 1/2 cup chopped pecans
2 lg. pkg. chocolate chips
2 tsp. vanilla
4 cups regular oatmeal (not quick cooking kind)

Sift flour once before measuring, and then sift with soda and salt. Cream shortening and add sugar gradually creaming until light and fluffy. Add eggs, one at a time, beating after each. Add hot water then sift dry ingredients. Add vanilla, then nuts and chocolate chips. Mix in oatmeal gradually. Drop by 1/2 tsp. on cookies sheet and bake at 375 degrees F until cookies begin to brown around the edge. Remove the cookies from the oven and let them set for a few minutes before removing with spatula to cool.

You can also substitute peanut butter chips, white chocolate chips, or mint chips for the chocolate chips. If you are in the mood for something totally different, dice 2 cups of orange slice candies and use those instead of the chocolate chips.

If you can keep little (and not so little) fingers out of them, they last well when stored in an air-tight container. Spend a morning with your favorite little one(s) and make some memories.

Super Treats For Celebrations - Chocolate Dipped Fortune Cookies

Have you ever wondered about what goes into the making of a delicious fortune cookie? Fortune cookies have an uncanny ability to remind people of the most fun times of their childhood. Sharing their cookies with friends, swapping them at lunch, baking cookies with parents on a Sunday, and many such touching memories are associated with a bite of a fortune cookie, no matter how much time has passed in life.

Although these types of cookies can be made in almost any flavor that you can think of, many people agree that chocolate fortune cookies are among the most favored of all. An addicted bunch love the aroma of chocolate mixed with butter and baked fresh out of the oven! And, if it is a double chocolate cookie, then so much the better.

Whoever thought of adding oatmeal to cookie dough must have known how great it can taste, too. Some people even add canned fruit cubes or dried banana, orange, berry or raisin pieces to the fortune cookie dough to add that extra zing to the taste. A lot of people love to discover the nuts and fruits embedded in the fortune cookie while biting into them.

In addition, fortune cookies can also be covered in chocolate dips. These can be dark or white dips. As many people don't have the time or the patience to make cookies at home, they often resort to the tinned versions of these cookies, too. Although some of these tinned cookies are pretty good, most of them tend to turn stale and hard, if they are kept on the shelf for a few months. One way to bring back some of the flavor and taste to these tinned cookies is to dip them in your own favorite flavor of chocolate and add a few pieces of nuts on the top. A lot of people also prefer using M&Ms, to stud them on the surface.

Fortune cookies, especially the chocolate dipped fortune cookies, are fast becoming the most popular form of special gift items. Not only are they easy to make and have a wide variety of options as far as packing and decorating them is concerned, they also bring a sense of romance and mystery with them, because of the fortune hidden inside each one.

You can use simple cellophane paper to wrap them, and tie them up with ribbons. Adding a personal message is definitely a great idea. There are beautiful Chinese gift boxes readily available in the market, that can be used to pack these fortune cookies.

The best thing about fortune cookies is that you can choose to make them in as many flavors as you want to. However, chocolate coated fortune cookies in white chocolate, orange, vanilla or caramel have proven to be popular crowd pleasers. A lot of people leave the edges of the cookie uncoated with the chocolate dip, so that it remains easier to crack open the cookie, allowing the fortune to be retrieved without having chocolate smeared all over the hands.

Using mint chips, candy or granola bars, peanut butter confections or dried berries for the fortune cookie is also a tasty idea. As long as you can keep each flavor distinct, and don't go overboard with the taste, it is always fun to experiment with these delicious pieces of chocolate heaven. Like love, chocolate is also considered to evoke feelings of passion and happiness. Therefore, carefully decorated and customized chocolate dipped fortune cookies are simply great gifts for all types of occasions.

20-year-old Recipe for French Chocolate Silk Squares

I believe this recipe came from a 1989 edition of Woman's Day magazine but I can't be sure.  It was listed in the "Eating Healthy" section  because it has 1 1/2 tablespoons of oat bran in every square.  Each square also has 188 calories, 4 grams protein, 26 grams carbs, 9 grams fat, 0 mg cholesterol, and 130 mg sodium.  That is pretty good numbers for a dessert!  This is great for family meals, co-workers, holiday gift giving, bake sales, church potluck, etc.  Who doesn't love the idea of chocolate and healthy all in one?  Give these French Chocolate Silk Squares a try today and see just how well healthy and chocolate can be together!

IN CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIES, SHORTENING DETERMINES FLAVOR AND SHAPE

A good way to find a preference of shortening in chocolate chip cookies is to bake several batches at the same time using different fats.  Try two or more of the following shortenings; butter, margarine, lard, solid shortening, butter flavored solid shortening. Keep the recipe identical for each batch and make each cookie the same size.  As the cookies bake, notice how much each spreads out and how thin they become. Taste a cookie from each recipe, both while still warm and also when cold. Sip water in between your bites to get an accurate taste. Make notes on the findings which will help decide which fat is preferred.

Learning the ease of cooking is the purpose of http://www.painlesscooking.com. Teaching such basics as how to know what shortening to use is the intention of Frances Peffly Moore, chef and author and her daughter Kelly.

How to Make Chocolate Peanut Butter Cookies That Are Also Diabetic Friendly

This cookie recipe is just about perfect! It uses two of our favorite ingredients, peanut butter and chocolate. Even better it is made with Splenda Blends making it less in calories and sugar. Even the diabetics can enjoy a couple of these cookies. If making for diabetics, I suggest using the sugar-free chocolate chips instead of the semi-sweet chocolate chunks. Bake up a batch today and enjoy tonight with family or friends. These cookies are also a good option when baking cookies to share with co-workers or taking to a picnic, pitch-in meal, church supper, etc.

Chocolate Cookie Recipes (fun to Make With the Kids)

One of the best ways to make memories with your children or grandchildren is to allow them in the kitchen with you.  Kids love to bake and they enjoy eating and sharing with others the goodies they make.  It is also a fun learning experience for them, one they don't even realize is a lesson.  Organing ingredients, following the instructions in the recipe, working together to make something special, and don't forget clean-up.  It is important for children to learn that after the fun, there is clean-up to be done.  If you work it right, they will even think that is part of the fun.  Counting and measuring is also a good math lesson.  So don't try to keep your children out of the kitchen.  Invite them in and have fun together.  Homemade Chocolate Sandwich Cookies is a recipe they will love as they get to put the cookies and filling together to make "sandwiches".  They may not get them perfect but life is not about perfection in everything.  You aren't trying to make a masterpiece, just a cookie!  And the kids will love dunking the Chocolate Dunk Cookies in the chocolate mixture.  Note:  When baking with chocolate and children, be sure they wear aprons, smocks, or older clothing.

Chocolate Cookie Recipes - Chocolate Sticks

I do not think one can ever have sufficient chocolate cookie recipes. Many chocolate cookie recipes go way back to our grannies baking them in big batches for all the visiting grandchildren. This formula is no exception but, it is an old fashioned formula that can very nothing else but be made with an galvanic mixer with a dough hook. I usually start with the general beater for creaming the butter and sugar and only when it starts getting very stiff do I move to the dough hook. This chocolate cookie formula is best made the day before you want to bake it and completely cooled down in the refrigerator.

Ingredients for these chocolate sticks:
6 tablespoons of butter 3/4 cup of sugar 1 egg 1 tablespoon of milk 1 teaspoon of vanilla or pinch of cinnamon 5 teaspoons of cocoa 1/8 teaspoonful of baking powder 1 1/4 to 1 1/2 cups of sifted pastry flour
Method:
Cream the butter until soft. Add the sugar gently and beat well Add the beaten egg, milk and vanilla and mix thoroughly. Sift cocoa, baking powder, and a pinch of salt with about one-half cup of the flour. Stir this into the blend first, then use the remainder of the flour, and more if necessary, to make a firm dough that will not stick to the fingers. Place in the fridge to harden. Preheat the oven to 350oF. Sprinkle the board with cocoa and a very small amount of sugar. Use small pieces of the dough at a time and roll out thin, cut in strips about one-half inch wide and three inches long. Place intimately in pan and bake in the oven for three or four minutes. Great care should be taken in the baking to preclude burning. Watch them like a hawk! Gather the scraps after each rolling, if soft, and set away to harden, if you have to use too much cocoa to preclude them from sticking it will make them bitter. The colder and harder the dough is, the great it can be handled; therefore it is best made the day before using.

Lorna's Warm and Chewy appetizing Chocolate Chip Cookie method

Cookies are one of America's whole one snacks. I would have a snack charge and the first thing I will crave for is something with chocolate in it. It had to be chewy and satisfying. I do no know one man who does not like chocolate chip cookies. I love baking homemade cookies for my children. Walking in the door from a long day of school to the smell of mom's freshly bake cookies just fills their hearts with joy.
I hope you enjoy my recipe and keep it in your hearts for many, many years to come.

What you need:

Cookie Bake

Stick of butter or margarine softens.
¾ cup of white sugar
¾ cup of brown sugar
2 eggs
11/2 teaspoon of vanilla extract
21/4 cup of all purpose flour
1 teaspoon of baking soda
1 teaspoon of salt
2 cups of semi-sweet chocolate chips

Turn your oven on 350. Grease your cookie sheet or use a nonstick cookie sheet. In a bowl, mix your white and brown sugar, eggs, vanilla, and butter. Stir until creamy with a fork or whisk. Add a tiny flour at a time and stir. Add the baking soda and salt and a tiny more flour mix well. Gently keep adding and stirring in flour until there's no more in the cup. Last but not least, add the chocolate chips. Mix well. Go ahead and taste your cookie dough. Isn't just delicious? Hmmmm!

With a teaspoon, scoop out some cookie dough and place them an inch apart on the cookie sheet. If you want your cookies bigger scoop out a tablespoon of cookie dough. Let them bake between 10-12 minutes until golden brown. Let them cool and enjoy! You can top them with a scoop of vanilla ice or enjoy them with a nice hot cup of cocoa.
