Baking cookies is a lot of fun. It does take some time to make them, but fresh baked cookies out of the oven can't be beat even by the best epicurean cookie you can buy.

When you walk into somebody's house and there are cookies in the oven, the whole house smells great and inviting. There are some shortcuts that can make it easier to bake your own cookies and i don't mean store bought dough.

Make sure you have all the ingredients that you need and measure them carefully. Actually, the best thing you can do is get a scale and weigh them, that way you all the time have the exact same amount.

Use only the best ingredients, such as real butter and fresh eggs. If you are diet-conscious, add ground flax-seeds, nuts and dried fruit for nutrition. You can even substitute applesauce for part of the butter.

Make the dough according to the instructions, but be right not to mix it too long after adding the flour. Only mix until the flour is incorporated into the dough, otherwise your cookies will be tough.

Use a high potential baking sheet and cover it with parchment paper. No need to butter it. The cookies will not stick and it is so easy to clean.

After mixing the dough, you can wrap it tightly and keep it in the refrigerator for up to 1 week. When you want fresh cookies, just take out adequate for 1 sheet and bake them.
