Jelly Roll Pans - How to Choose and Use Them

A jelly roll pan is a versatile tool. It is like a baking sheet or cookie sheet but it has raised edges, which are about an inch high. You can use it for baking cookies but it also has other uses, such as roasting vegetables or broiling meat.

These tins are cheap and they are easy to clean, making them ideal for any baking project. Perhaps you already have one in your kitchen or maybe you are considering purchasing a larger or better one.

Cookie Bake

The raised lip means that any liquid in your recipe will not drip off. Imagine roasting vegetables on a cookie sheet. If you have dotted them with butter, the butter will melt and drip off the edge of the baking sheet. A jelly roll pan eliminates the resulting mess in the oven.

Which Jelly Roll Pan to Buy

If you want to buy one of these pans, you can choose between different sizes. A ten cup volume pan measures ten and a half by fifteen and a half inches. A twelve cup volume pan measures twelve and a half by seventeen and a half inches.

You can also get a fifteen by ten inch size. Different kitchen stores stock different sizes so you might not be able to get all of these. You might think that buying the biggest one is the best idea but check the size of your oven before buying one, since if it does not fit you will not be able to do much with it.

Also, check the quality of the pan. It should be durable and free of holes or dents. You can get stainless steel ones, aluminum ones and even nonstick ones, so have a look at the different kinds before making your decision.
